Bon Om Tuk

Well yeah, technically the 2008 Phnom Penh Water Feswtival ended about a week ago, but I just have not had time to post these photos... so here goes!

As usual, the mythicaldude found the throngs of out-of-towners in from the dusty provinces much more interesting than the dragon boat racing, but here are some photos of all of the above for your edification.

 

   

 

  

 

This scene is typical, not only during Bon Om Tuk... just another family of five on a samll 100cc motorcycle.

A few days after the festival's end, the hiuge "light boats" that float along the river to accompany the excellent fireworks each evening of the festival were being taken apart in sections to be trucked away and schlepped back into storage for another year.

 

  

 

Bach meets Bali

Since last Thursday I have been busy shooting photos at five of the seven performances that consituted the 5th Annual Phnom Penh International Music Festival, an excellent and very well managed event organized by the Art PLUS Foundation here in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

One of the performances was exceptionally beautiful and unique - Bach & Bali. Noted American violinist Robert Brown and Balkinese dancer I Nyoman Sura collaborated to produce a magnificent dream-like spectacle that was as lovely and trascendent as it was fascinating and novel.
